Millennials can, and will change this country!

The best inheritance you can leave for your children is the contribution you will make towards changing and improving this country.  It is very sad that what we have inherited from our fathers and our forefathers is a country riddled with corruption, greed and all manner of evil. I do not have children, but here is a faithful lesson I have come to understand, “The demons we refuse to deal with, shall be inherited by our children.”

Today I’m calling out to all millenials to arise and build this country.  We have a choice, to either choose the corrupt ways of our forefathers or the way of justice. Ultimately what we choose will be the inheritance that we will leave for our children.

With all the old and recent corruption scandals in the country a lot of us have taken to complaining and criticizing. Here’s the thing, we cannot complain our way into changing this country. It’s the little things that we do that will eventually make a great difference. If you give a cop a bribe of fifty shillings then you have absolutely no right to complain about a one billion shilling scandal. I know it sounds far-fetched but the very fact that we became okay with giving fifty shilling bribes is what has given birth to the current scandals.

The only way we will see a difference in this country is if we as individuals purpose to live a life of integrity by saying no to corruption.  It is not okay to give a bribe. We can attest to the fact that in this country, the right amount of money will get you anything and get you out of anything. As millennials, we can choose to do differently.

With whatever you do, and whatever job you have, you can change this country even without being in a political position. In fact, most of us will never hold political offices and we do not need to. This beautiful country is our inheritance from God and we must choose to steward it in a godly manner.

Choose to be honest with your clients about the amount of time it takes to do something. At our places of work, plan in good time so we won’t have to fast track the process by giving a bribe. Throw trash in designated areas and we won’t have to complain about a dirty city and blocked drainage. Take responsibility without expecting someone else to do it. Dear millennial, if you have been stealing from your employer, STOP IT.

There is a lot YOU can do FOR this country.  Our leaders have let us down big time but the truth is they are just a reflection of who we are as a nation. We shouldn’t just look up to our political leaders to change this country. Many of us are only too happy to admit that if given the chance, we would like to be the ones in a position to steal.

Dear millennial, strive to earn a legitimate living and God will not only bless the work of your hands, but He will also give you joy to enjoy your earnings. You might strive to leave a lot of wealth for your children, but if the condition of this country is not conducive that wealth will not be enjoyed.

If we can change one person at a time, there will be a collective difference in the country.  Decide today what kind of inheritance you want to leave for your children.
